blaufränkischland | deutschkreutz in austria
"Deep ruby red with delicate violet reflections, subtle fruit aromas of raspberry and blackberry over supple tannins, that stimulate the palate and offer a sense of well being on the finish” – this best describes the style of wine, that gives our region its name: BLAUFRÄNKISCHLAND. Our winery is situated right in the heart of “Blaufränkischland” – the red wine centre of Austria – between the gently undulating hills that surround the wine-growing town of Deutschkreutz in Mittelburgenland. Deutschkreutz is known for having the perfect climate and ideal soils, and lies just a few kilometres west of the border with Hungary. On a clear day, you can even see as far as Lake Neusiedl. Winemaker Josef Reumann is proud of his region and says, “We are blessed with our climate here, because we benefit from all of the positive influences from the lake; warmth during the Winter and cooling effects during Summer. Then we have our deep-reaching soils, brown earth mixed with clay, that retain water”.
This is where outstanding wines are produced under optimal conditions, and especially Blaufränkisch, the true “majesty” amongst red wines.
